English is the most widely spoken language in the world and has more second-language speakers than any other language. There is no doubt that the role of English in the world today has been becoming more and more important. It is English that is used as an effective medium of international communication. It is also the language of the Internet, and so studying, doing research, interacting with international companies and traveling are almost impossible without at least some English.The widespread need for Englishas an international language puts considerable pressure on the education resources of any countries. In Vietnam, since the government carried out the open door policy to attract foreign investment and co-operate with other countries, teaching and learning English has become more necessary. That is the reason why learning English is not only the interest butalso the great and practical demand for many people, especially for students who always want to assess the modern world. Therefore, English is now taught as a compulsory subject to students at high schools in our country.

        Today, dramatic IT development has positively impacted several aspects of life, not except education. Technology application in teaching English is a suitable new direction of the trend of times. This action is appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Training and paid attention to invest in development during this time. Information technology, especially applications, software stores on domestic and international websites actually are valuable gadgets for us to develop, utilize and bring into our lessons that play their part to arouse students’ learninginterest as well as improve the quality of teaching subjects in general and English in particular.

        In recent years, schools have created maximum conditions for teachers to bring technological achievements into their lessons such as: installing projectors, speakers,TVs..., universal internet access in classrooms, and Circular No.32/2020/TT-BGDĐT dated September 15, 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training which has promulgated recently, has allowed students to use phones, tablets, and laptops in school for learning purposes. This has motivated me to research and apply information technology in my teaching work.

PART I: INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the study
	English is the most widely spoken language in the world and has more second-language speakers than any other language. There is no doubt that the role of English in the world today has been becoming more and more important. It is English that is used as an effective medium of international communication. It is also the language of the Internet, and so studying, doing research, interacting with international companies and traveling are almost impossible without at least some English. The widespread need for English as an international language puts considerable pressure on the education resources of any countries. In Vietnam, since the government carried out the open door policy to attract foreign investment and co-operate with other countries, teaching and learning English has become more necessary. That is the reason why learning English is not only the interest but also the great and practical demand for many people, especially for students who always want to assess the modern world. Therefore, English is now taught as a compulsory subject to students at high schools in our country.

This has motivated me to research and apply information technology in my teaching work.
	As a teacher of English in a coastal district, I find it difficult in teaching foreign languages to students. They do not seem to be interested in learning English. Therefore, I am always aware that I have to regularly self-study, self-practice, learn and exchange experiences with colleagues, spend a lot of time researching IT, software applications,... to find solutions to apply in teaching and improve the quality of my teaching. The application of Kahoot software in teaching English contributes to the innovation of teaching methods. Thanks to this software application, the lecture becomes not only interesting but also attractive.
	Review activity is essential to teaching foreign languages in general and to teaching English in particular. In order to get students to be interested in this kind of activity, teachers are required to apply a new methodology. Particularly for 12th form students, the graduation exam has been changed to multiple choices for many years, so practice doing many exercises helps them consolidate their knowledge after each lesson without getting bored. And also helps students remember longer the content of the lesson, thereby improving the quality of teaching and objectively assessing the quality of students' learning, and also reducing the cost of printing and photocopying documents. That is the reason why I choose the thesis “ applying “Kahoot” to review vocabulary and grammar for students at Ngo Le Tan High School”. This solution is really necessary and effective in the era of global connectivity. 
 Aims of the study
The study aims to improve the quality of teaching for students through the introduction of Kahoot application software into teaching, to help students review and consolidate their knowledge after each lesson and to improve English learning and also students will feel more confident in the exams. To achieve this goal, the study sets out the following specific solutions:
	Solution 1: Studying about Kahoot software generalization and how to set up an account, compile Kahoot exercises. Thanks to this solution, teachers can get an overview of the software and how to use it in teaching effectively in order to develop the students’ competencies and qualities.
Solution 2: Using Kahoot software in English teaching activities: warm-up, practice, regular check-ups ..; Give some specific examples when using Kahoot in teaching activities. This solution aims to help students become more interested in learning English activities, self-study and regular training of knowledge. Besides, it contributes to improving the quality of teaching and learning the subject.
Scopes of the study
The study is concerned with investigating the effectiveness of using Kahoot application in designing exercises to review vocabulary, grammar and supporting teaching.
 Method of the study
	Research the theoretical and practical basis of the topic:
Method of pedagogical observation.
Methods of investigation, comparison, analysis, and synthesis.
Method of summarizing through work and teaching experience.
Pedagogical experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the topic.
Significant of the Research
It is expected that the result of the study will give significant contribution for the teacher, the students, the researcher and also the institution.
Teachers
	This study is expected that the result will give contribution to the teacher to vary their students’ ways in teaching English. Teacher can apply the Kahoot application and improve students’ knowledge and help students easier to review the lessons. Hopefully by using this Kahoot application in designing exercises and supporting teaching English that the students can really do English exercises well and students know the benefit of web application.
Students
It is also expected that the students can find more interesting activity in practicing. Then, the students can improve their reviewing ability by using web application. Therefore, it can make them easier to really improve the revision ability.
Researcher
	It is expected that the result give some knowledge an experience for the researcher in teaching learning process, especially in reviewing the lessons using Kahoot application. It also can be used as new reference about media in teaching learning process especially in reviewing and consolidating the knowledge.
Institution
	Kahoot application is the media application in teaching learning process that can be used not only in reviewing, but also in the test. If the implementation of web quest media is running well, so it can improve the achievement of the institution among other institutions.
PART II: CONTENT
CHAPTER I. THEORETICAL BACKGROUND
	Starting from the point of view "learners are at the center", the method of teaching and learning has fundamentally changed. The teacher is not the only one who holds the knowledge and imparts it, but also the leader, the mentor, and the one who paves the way for learners to be more active in their study and especially, directive No. 666/CT-BGDDT dated August 24, 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Training states: "Promote digital transformation, promote the application of information technology in education and training".
	This chapter discusses the solutions about the theory and research into Kahoot application to form the theoretical and practical base for this study.
Solution 1: To research Kahoot software and how to set up an account, to compile exercises on Kahoot.
	Through this solution, teachers can better understand the software features, how to use them in teaching and lead students to participate in learning on Kahoot.
Definition Kahoot application
	Kahoot is a free teaching aid tool, used to design quizzes, quizzes, crossword puzzles, discussions and online surveys and used as a similar classroom system work. In essence, Kahoot is an application website online, so it can be used on any device: laptop, smartphone, computer connected with network. Kahoot is one of the most popular game – based tools that can be enjoyed in the classroom. After the students answering the question, Kahoot automatically presents the memes to inform if their respond is correct or not. Kahoot application is an educational game based software that takes interactive activities into classrooms and provides the students with enjoyable learning experience. In this case, the Students can do the exercises of the materials that they have learned on their laptop, smartphone or other electronic devices, they can have a healthy competition in doing the quiz with their friends because Kahoot complete with the leaderboard to show the rank of the students lively. In addition the teacher can track the process and download the summary at the end of the quiz to measure the success of the students.
Purpose of Kahoot application
	Kahoot is a wonderful tool that you can make online quizzes and students can actually see the question on the device. All students work at their own pace and timers can be turned off. You can easily export the results into an Excel spreadsheet and the program saves the data. You can log in simply with your (Google) email address.

The Implementing of Kahoot Application
	Kahoot is a free tool that allows teachers to quickly turn introductory and review activities into fun, multiplayer activities for students. First, it works on any device with a browser and allows you to create your own activities or to use those already made by other educators. Second, to play Kahoot, students just need to access Kahoot.it website using any connected device Internet and enter the game pin provided by the teacher. After the game is over, the teacher gives feedback and points to encourage students. Kahoot provided a detailed report of student responses that can be downloaded and saved.

Solution 2: Using Kahoot software in English teaching activities: warm ups, practice, regular check-ups and review lessons
	This solution is used for students to practice, strengthen knowledge after each lesson topic. Due to the limited duration of each class, after completing the lessons and topics in the classroom, students do not have much time to practice so I often assign homework to let them practice more exercises at home by doing on Kahoot and I can monitor and evaluate the progress of students through topics and lessons and since then I make adjustments in my teaching plan accordingly. Instead of traditional classroom lessons, students will be able to change the learning atmosphere, be less boring when working collaboratively in groups, try different types of exercises and especially "compete" with groups of friends. This adds to the interest in learning for students to help them learn more effectively.
	With the convenience of online applications, I can share with colleagues across the country, even teachers around the world to save time and effort on the compilation work. A lot of lessons are shared by colleagues on the web, which I can use or edit to suit the actual situation.

Steps to organize teaching on Kahoot
	Step 1: The teacher opens the pre-prepared lesson on the website, clicks the "start " button or assigns homework to choose the form of group or individual play, click "Classic mode or team mode" to get the code and provide it to the students.

	Step 2: Students open the Kahoot.it software on the website, enter the code provided by the teacher to participate in the game on the interface and the music background is very attractive. Teachers track the student's participation process through the homepage, which can be accompanied by timely comments that add to the attractiveness.

	CHAPTER II. PRACTICAL BACKGROUND
Settings of the study 1.The community
	The process of regional and global integration has resulted in an increasing demand for English language teaching across Vietnam. Before the 1990s little attention was paid to the teaching and learning of foreign languages in general and English language in particular at that time, Russian was the dominated foreign language. Today, however, the role of English in Vietnam has undergone considerable changes. English has rapidly become the most popular foreign language in the country.
	Like in other provinces and big cities there is a strong support for the learning of English in Binh Dinh province. People need English for purposes such as foreign trade or in order to further their study and to gain access to scientific, technical and literary materials. Therefore, they learn English at schools, colleges, extra classes, and training centers etc. Concerning the status of English in the curriculum, it is taught as one of several foreign languages available to students within the school system. However, in practical terms, it may be recognized as the most important foreign language.
	However, it is worth noticing that despite the support and preference paid to English learning, the students’ only aim of studying a foreign language is to pass the University Entrance Exam. If they intend to apply for colleges or universities which do not require an English exam for admission, they will naturally ignore English. In this case they are forced to learn the language just in order to pass the final exam because in fact the students in Binh Dinh rarely have a chance to communicate with foreigners, which means not having an environment to use the language. Moreover, in recent years secondary school students’ focus has shifted to sciences, natural sciences in particular, rather than a foreign language.
	In short, English language is not easy to learn for students, and many coastal students lost motivation to learn this language which they felt difficulties. Therefore, educators always investigate the best methods for teaching English language for students. The rapid growth of information and communication technologies (ICT) has dramatically affected various sectors worldwide. The sophistication of ICT has also created many forms of technology that can help in everyday life, such as smartphone, tablet or computer. Later, technology gaming was introduced as an activity that carried out by interacting players who obligated to a set of regulations to achieve their objectives. Within recent years, the establishment of gamification becomes trending in many of services as the user engagement support. Its concept frequently applied to various designs for teaching and learning purposes. In teaching and learning, the motivational factor is crucial in addressing various types of learning including traditional learning, distance learning, and online learning
The teachers
	Most of the teachers were graduated from Quy Nhon University, or other national university. No teacher of English in the school has ever been to an English speaking country and few of them have chances to communicate with native speakers.
	All of the teachers are highly motivated because they neither want to be dismissed by the school nor disappoint their students.
The students
	Most of the students don’t have a chance to communicate with foreigners. They come from the remote area of coastal districts. Their living condition is poor. The investment in education from their families, therefore, is not good sufficient. The factors contributing to the low result are that the basic of lower secondary school is poor, the students’ skills are not good due to regional characteristics, and especially their personal feeling in English is not good, either. Most parents are not aware of the importance of English in the current society, so investing time and money in learning English at an early age is not enough. This is also the reason why the results of the General Certificate of Secondary Education Examinations are normally low.
	The reality, the drawbacks of teaching and using technology at Ngo Le Tan High School
	Ngo Le Tan High School is the place where many children of farmers. Therefore many students also feel self-deprecating, not confident enough to communicate with students outside the same age. Many students also think that because of difficult family circumstances, the path to starting a career later will be difficult, so they only learn to cope, there is no orientation for the future leading to reduced study results. That is a concern, also the worries of teachers and students.
	Ngo Le Tan High School has been equipped with 1 smart television, 2 projectors, 1 computer rooms, and 11 televisions in 11 classrooms. The author teaches 4 classes that consist 42 students for each class and most of them have smartphone.
 	For students, the form of objective multiple choice test although it has the effect of training positive thinking, agile reflexes, but the tests of this type have not previously helped them to evaluate the results of their training, take the test according to the habit mechanically, less brainstorming. To overcome the above shortcomings, I study and exploit the software, Kahoot application to support the construction of multiple choice tests while helping students learn on their own, self-review and improve their ability to self-evaluate their learning results.
Participants
	The subjects for the study were conducted with 168 students in grade 12th and grade 11th at Ngo Le Tan High School in Phu Cat District. Each of students owns a smartphone that could access the internet.
